The Indoor Hall

Small, air-conditioned, at ground level, and inside the palace itself. It seats roughly a small group for a ceremony or a closed meeting, which makes it the room for the pheras with immediate family, or for the couple and bridal party between functions. The Questions That Decide the Booking

How many guests will actually be seated?

Seven hundred to eight hundred, once a stage, a mandap and buffet counters are standing on the grass. Twelve hundred if the reception is floating and people move between the stage, the food and their seats. We quote both numbers because the first one is the one your dinner has to fit inside.

Can we bring our own caterer?

Yes. Catering is the biggest line in the budget and an in-house-only venue takes away your ability to negotiate it. Bring the caterer your family already trusts and our staff coordinate the counters, the service and the clearing on the day. More on why we keep catering open.

Is there a panel we have to book through?

No. We do not run in-house catering, and there is no panel of decorators, caterers and DJs you are obliged to book through. The caterer your family trusts is the caterer who cooks, so the kitchen can be pure veg, non-veg or Jain exactly as you decide, and your own decorator and DJ are welcome to work the lawn.

Where do a hundred cars go?

Inside the gate, valet-attended. Old Padra Road in December will not absorb your guest list, and a wedding where the first ten minutes are spent looking for a space starts badly regardless of what the decor cost. It is worth being specific about this, because a Vadodara wedding venue with parking for a hundred cars on its own grounds is rarer in the middle of the city than it is on the outskirts, and it is usually the thing a family notices only on the night it is missing.

What happens if the power fails?

Two generators carry the full event, lighting and sound included. This is the first question every corporate organiser asks and the last one most families think of.

Can two functions run on the same day?

Regularly. The lawn and the hall are separate spaces on one property, so a morning ceremony indoors and an evening reception outdoors is a normal booking here rather than a special request, and it saves a family two venues, two setups and a drive across the city.

What a Day at the Venue Actually Looks Like

For a full wedding day, the usual shape is this. Morning haldi on the lawn, where nobody has to worry about a floor. The party moves indoors to the hall for the ceremony, air-conditioned and out of the sun, while the lawn is reset. Baraat arrives through the main gate and comes down the drive in the late afternoon. By evening the stage is up against the palace with the facade lit behind it, the buffet counters are along one edge, and the reception runs until the family decides it is finished.

Two functions on one day is normal here rather than an exception, because the lawn and the hall are separate spaces on one property. That saves a family the cost and the logistics of booking two venues, and it saves guests a drive across the city between the ceremony and the dinner.

Guest Rooms, Washrooms and the Practical Things

Getting-ready rooms on site: enough for the couple to change, the bridal party to get ready and elderly relatives to rest between functions. Not enough for an out-of-town guest list, which we say plainly because families booking a residential wedding should be looking at a resort instead.

Two washroom blocks, one for men and one for women, each with two to three compartments. Everything is at ground level, lawn and hall alike, which matters more than it sounds when a third of the guest list is over seventy. Two generators cover the whole event including lighting and sound.

Booking a Date for the Season

November to February is the wedding season in Vadodara and the dates inside it go first, usually six to eight months ahead for a Saturday. Dates outside that window are easier to get, and for those the air-conditioned hall does the work the lawn cannot.

Booking is a phone call rather than an online checkout, and the terms stay flexible depending on the date and the size of the function. Tariff depends on the date, the guest count, and whether you take the lawn, the hall or both, so it is quoted rather than listed. Call and you get availability and a written quote the same day.

Is It the Right Size for Your Guest Count?

Every venue directory makes you filter by guest count, and then gives you a single capacity number that does not tell you whether your function will feel full or thin. Here is the honest answer band by band.

Up to 150 guests

Workable, but you will be using a portion of the lawn or the indoor halls and the veranda rather than the full ground. A smaller venue may suit you better and we will say so if it does.

150 to 400 guests

A good fit. Set on a portion of the lawn, this size fills properly instead of spreading thin, which is the usual failure when a mid-size function books a 1,000-plus plot.

400 to 800 guests

The range the property is really built for. A comfortable seated ceiling once a stage, a mandap and buffet counters are standing on the grass.

a large gathering

Works as a floating reception, where guests move between the stage, the food and their seats rather than all sitting at once. Ask us how your particular guest list behaves before assuming the top of that range.

Over a full guest list guests

Not here. The larger plots on Waghodia Road and towards Vemali publish lawns at 2,000 and above, and one of those is the right booking. We would rather lose the enquiry than take a function the ground cannot hold.

What Does Shivmahal Palace Cost?

We do not publish a rate card, and it is fair to explain why rather than leave you guessing. A tariff here is not one number: it moves with the date, the guest count, and whether you are taking the lawns for one function or for a full wedding across two days. A published figure would be wrong for most of the people reading it.

What the quote depends on

The date first. A Saturday inside the November to February season prices differently from a weekday in June, because demand for those dates is not comparable. Then the guest count, then how many functions and how much of the property each one needs.

What is not in the venue quote

Catering, which you arrange with your own caterer at your own negotiated rate. That is usually the largest line in the whole wedding budget, and keeping it outside the venue quote is the point: an in-house-only venue takes that negotiation away from you. Decor is separate too, whether you use JJ Events & Decor or your own decorator.

How to get the actual number

One call, and you get it in writing the same day. Tell us the date and roughly how many guests and we will quote it properly rather than quote a range that turns out not to apply to you.

Does the Venue Have Rooms?

Three, and it is worth being precise because "party plot with rooms" means different things to different families. Getting-ready rooms cover the couple changing, the bridal party getting ready, and elderly relatives resting between functions. They do not accommodate a guest list. If your relatives are travelling in and need to stay, you want a resort, and we would rather tell you that now than after a site visit. City hotels are a short run away, which is one of the advantages of a central address.
